Measured by functional ELISA. Immobilized recombinant human EGFR ECD binds EGF and reference anti-EGFR antibody (cetuximab) with EC50 values in the ng/mL range.

EGFR (HER1/ErbB1) is the archetypal receptor tyrosine kinase: activated by EGF and TGF-α, its extracellular domains extend and dimerize to switch on intracellular signaling that drives epithelial proliferation and survival. EGFR biology is targeted at every level of oncology practice — cetuximab and necitumumab block the ectodomain, erlotinib, gefitinib and osimertinib inhibit the kinase, and activating EGFR mutations define first-line treatment in NSCLC. The extracellular domain is also shed by metalloproteases in tumors and inflammation, generating soluble EGFR as a biomarker. Our recombinant EGFR ECD spans all four ligand-binding subdomains, supporting anti-EGFR screening, ligand-blocking assays, epitope mapping and shed-receptor detection assays.
